How do I set up the integration in Mediahawk
Login in to the Mediahawk Platform https://www.reports.mediahawk.co.uk
Select Admin
You will then see all the integrations available to you on the landing page.
Click connect on Google Analytics
This will then prompt you to fill in the Account details
- Description = Internal Mediahawk description
- Measurement ID = Located in GA4 under Admin, Data Streams (under property), click a data stream and then the measurement ID is found on the top right
- Number selection = Calls on the selected numbers will be sent into your Google Analytics
- Category selection = When this selection is made, call conversions that are categorised with your chosen categories will be sent. This only applies to calls.
- API secret = Located in GA4 under Admin, Data Streams (under property), click a data stream and then locate the Measurement Protocol API Secrets towards the bottom.
- Source / medium tracking type = You can select between last click or First Click
You then need to complete the Event data export section
Event name = this is how the events will show within your Analytics reporting (this does need to follow the Google name ruling so no spaces and underscores only).
Value = This is the data point we will send to Analytics
Parameter = The name of the data point that will show within your Analytics reporting (we usually recommend to have MH in the name so this is clear it is from Mediahawk - this also needs to follow the Google naming rules)
There are 5 standard data points that will show on the initial set up. You can use these and add additional data points or you can amend the data points to suit your needs but simply changing the Value dropdown and changing the Parameter name.
Click Save
You will need to set up the Parameters created within the Mediahawk integration within Google Analytics directly as Custom Dimensions.
- Custom Dimensions - Located in GA4 under Admin, Data Display, Custom Definitions, Create Custom Dimension
This will now send data to GA4.
How do I amend the integration in Mediahawk
Login in to the Mediahawk Platform https://www.reports.mediahawk.co.uk
Select Admin
You will then see all the integrations available to you on the landing page.
Click configure on the Google Analytics integration
This will then show you all of your current Google Analytics set ups. You can toggle the set ups to enabled or disabled, add new setups by clicking the plus icon or amend the existing setups by clicking the description name in orange.
If you go to amend the existing setup and add any additional data points, ensure these are also set up as custom definitions within GA4 as without this, the data will not be sent.
